With Teacher Override Filtering, teachers can now grant temporary access to websites blocked by GoGuardian Admin policies during classroom sessions.
Administrators can designate specific filtering policies where teachers have override permission, ensuring compliance with critical categories like pornography and malicious sites. In a GoGuardian Teacher classroom session, teachers will now see an “Unblock for class” button when a student encounters a blocked website that belongs to an overridable policy. Clicking this button will grant access to the website for the entire class, for the duration of the session.
This new functionality will reduce lesson disruptions, increase instructional time, and streamline content management processes. Administrators will also experience a reduction in the burden of managing unblock requests, by delegating filtering decisions to teachers for approved policies – freeing up valuable time for other administrative tasks, all while maintaining control and oversight of what gets blocked or unblocked.
For best filtering practices, we recommend only enabling Teacher Override on policies applied at an individual OU level, and keep non-overridable, CIPA compliant policies at the root level. To learn more about this functionality, visit our Help Center article.
Note: this feature is only available to users that have both GoGuardian Teacher and GoGuardian Admin at their school or district.
